I was unsure about the visual essay when we first received the project in class weeks ago. I took a few photography classes in high school but it has never really been a passion of mine. Thankfully the day I had time to take pictures had beautiful weather and made walking around campus with a camera a pleasant experience. I only had one specific picture in mind that I wanted to take, so the others were things I had found that day.
It was refreshing to walk the same routes I do everyday, but with a fresh eye because I was actually trying to notice the details around me. I realized how much effort had been put into making our campus and Tech Square a visually appealing place to be. Each little piece of public art added to how much I enjoy being outside. I personally have always thought that midtown Atlanta is a beautiful place and I was able to present that through my essay.
I thought the project itself was interesting and different from a normal essay for English class. I like projects that are unique and aren't something that we've done all throughout high school. Although the presentation was challenging, I thought it was a good experience. My favorite aspect was being able to see everyone else's view points on public art and seeing the photos they put together.
