Salvador Dali is an artist that is currently featured at the High Museum of Art in Atlanta. I am familiar with many of his works yet do not know anything specific about Dali himself. I believe that artists should be remembered for more than just their art, but the life that preceding the art. Before I visit the exhibit I wanted to research further the infamous artist to get a better insight as to why his style is so unique from every other.
Salvador Dali was born and raised in Figueres, Spain. He attended the San Fernando School of Fine Arts in Spain. He has dappled in many artistic fields including painting, drawing, film, photography, sculpture, and writing. He is most well known for his surrealist paintings including The Persistence of Memory shown below:
Salvador Dali was well known for always wearing a floor-length cape and upturned mustache. His odd personal antics and constant reference to himself in third person made himself a person to know. One specific quirk is that whenever he signed an autograph for a fan he would keep the pen he signed with.
Dali passed away in 1989 in the same city he was born in. Learning about Salvador Dali's life made me even more interested to see a show of his works. If you are interested in learning more about Dali visit the Dali Museum website at: http://www.salvadordalimuseum.org/
